Senior Geologist

Responsibilities
Project management and coordination of field services and regulatory responsibilities associated with the Federal and Michigan Solid Waste Management Regulations, and Michigan Part 201 regulations
Groundwater monitoring programs, stormwater compliance (NPDES), , site characterization studies, preparation and implementation of corrective action plans, field supervision of drilling, and installation of piezometers and monitoring wells
Laboratory data validation and numerical methods of data analysis, field supervision of monitoring projects, and writing reports for long- and short-term monitoring projects
Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Baseline Environmental Assessments (BEAs) and Documentation of Due Care Compliance (DDCC)
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
B.S. in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geoscience, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering
Should have at least 5-10 years of hands-on related work experience. 10-15 years is preferred
Market/client development experience is required
Experience with Federal and Michigan Solid Waste Management Regulations and Michigan Part 201 regulations
Experience preparing Phase I and Phase II ESAs, BEAs and DDCCs
Knowledge of soil and rock properties
Knowledge of the hydrological cycle and related quantitative analysis
Understanding of soil and groundwater remediation (e.g., methods, chemistry)
Understanding of field work tasks such as soil sampling, groundwater sampling, soil logging, well installation, soil-vapor sampling, soil and groundwater remediation, site reconnaissance, and subcontractor oversight
Documented experience developing technical documents
Experience reviewing, compiling and interpreting geologic data to prepare accurate site-models
Knowledge of soil logging using the Unified Soil Classification System
Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills
Computer software proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint and Project
OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen and motor vehicle records check
Valid Driver's License
Preferred
Proven experience working in a collaborative environment and independently in a fast-paced consulting environment is preferred
Professional Geologist (PG) certification (preferred) or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) with willingness to sit for the Professional Geologist (PG) exam
