Substation Engineer I

Responsibilities
Assist in preparing and developing engineering deliverables for substation projects, including:
One-line and three-line diagrams
Schematics and wiring diagrams
Relay settings and calculations
Control and relaying panel layouts, specifications, and wiring diagrams
SCADA system and communications interfaces (RTUs, HMIs, IEDs)
Auxiliary system design (batteries, chargers, AC/DC load centers, conduit/cable sizing, UPS, backup generators)
Commissioning and functional testing specifications
Bill of materials preparation
Apply basic engineering principles in one or more areas, including:
Substation Design & Protective Relaying
Transmission & Distribution Engineering
Substation Automation & Power Systems Analysis
Civil, Communications, Computer, and Mechanical Engineering (as applicable)
Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, cost estimates, specifications, evaluations, and requisitions
Develop familiarity with company standards, QA/QC processes, safety protocols, and document control systems
Ensure complete and accurate record-keeping and uphold the quality of all work performed
Support field work as needed, including potential travel to project sites
Perform other duties as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited program
0-2 years of relevant engineering experience in power systems, substations, or related fields
Basic knowledge of relay protection and control systems, substation design, and power system analysis
Familiarity with industry standards such as NESC, IEEE, and ANSI
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
Willingness to travel for site visits, as needed
