St. Anne’s-Belfield School is a committed independent school in Charlottesville, Virginia, nurturing students from age 2 through Grade 12. They are seeking a part-time Varsity Baseball Assistant Coach to assist the Head Coach in developing practice and game plans, analyze player abilities, and promote good sportsmanship among the team.

Responsibilities

Assist the Head coach in developing practice and game plans

Analyze individual player abilities, strengths, and weaknesses, and factor these into the season competitions and strategy sessions in conjunction with our baseball staff

Support team rules and regulations and ensure players are familiar with them

Assist in organizing team-building sessions and activities off the field

Instill good sportsmanship in all team players and in all phases of athletic participation

Assist in managing and supervising athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, and respect

Encourage players to engage in other Saints sports programs

Use a variety of instructional techniques to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student-athletes in baseball

Take all necessary precautions to protect student-athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities

Required

Passion for baseball and comprehensive, in-depth knowledge of the game

Knowledge of current coaching techniques and procedures

Knowledge of VISAA & rules that apply to baseball

Demonstrated ability to instruct, relate to, teach, and supervise student-athletes on and off the field

Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the athletic schedule

Strong communication, management, motivational, interpersonal, and strategizing skills

Self-starter with a positive attitude

Embraces a high level of accountability

Professionally calm and motivationally intense

A progressive thinker but a believer in planning and preparation

Empathetic and able to work well with staff and players

Able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment

Prolonged periods of standing or walking

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks related to game and equipment setup
