Transportation Planner / Engineer

Responsibilities

Work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment and must have excellent communication, data management, and documentation skills
Perform preliminary engineering and planning activities and/or studies such as environmental and engineering inventories, purpose and need assessments, multi-modal evaluations, logical termini/independent utility analyses, engineering feasibility and transportation planning studies, and alternatives analyses
Track individual project tasks and financial management of individual and overall project tasks
Participate in business development efforts

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university
5+ years of progressive transportation development experience
Proficiency with ArcGIS, Microsoft Office (including MS Project) is required
Strong writing and presentation skills
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail along with overall quality control and management
Conscientious of project schedules (including Microsoft Project) and deadlines involving deliverables (including interim deadlines)
Ability to track individual project tasks and financial management of individual and overall project tasks
Strong teamwork and project organization skills working on projects and with staff
Willingness to participate in business development efforts

Preferred

AICP or PE Certification preferred
Knowledge and experience with NEPA (and NC equivalent), Section 4F, Section 6F, Section 106, and Section 404 is a plus
Experience with MicroStation is helpful
Experience identifying grant opportunities and developing grant applications preferred, but not required
