Research Laboratory Director

Responsibilities
Responsible for the overall operation and administration of a research laboratory
Employment and training of personnel who are competent to perform research procedures
Record and report test results promptly, accurately and proficiently
Assuring compliance with the applicable regulations
Operations of a research laboratory including basic and applied research projects
Quality improvement projects within the lab
Development of new research objectives, technologies and therapies that ultimately improve patient care
Encourages team members to use the scientific method to push the boundaries of human knowledge and develop new treatments and technologies
Serve as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders
Responsible for identifying new sources of revenue for the program, including grant funding, philanthropy, or manufacturing service contracts
Represent the research program and institution in a professional way
Participate regionally, nationally and internationally in a manner that demonstrates expertise, research, and novel researches and therapies available in the hospital
Qualification
Required
Medical Doctor (M.D.) (Required) Or
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) In a scientific discipline (Required)
3 years of progressive, specialized experience in a field of research
demonstrated record documenting excellence in research and teaching. (Required)
Experience must demonstrate that the applicant acquired the scientific knowledge, skills, and abilities to apply and utilize them successfully in independent health or health-related research appropriate to the position
An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image
A strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
An effective educator who is willing to share information and serve as a mentor
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable. Shifting priorities seamlessly and effortlessly
An articulate team player with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide constituency, including hourly workers, students, staff, faculty, researchers, leadership and outside organizational representatives
Qualified to be appointed to Research Faculty position
