George P. Johnson is looking for an engineer who can take design concepts and create construction drawing sets in their Smyrna, TN facility. The Engineer will be responsible for developing CAD drawings, collaborating with project teams, and ensuring the quality of the drawings for the final product as fabricated for use on the show floor or permanent installation.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the development of various types of CAD drawings such as overall fabrication drawings, event service floor plans, and any other drawings needed for the fabrication and future use of display properties

Interpret information from Design to produce preliminary drawings for review by the project team

Work with the project team to resolve issues in order to complete the drawings for final sign off

Translate ideas in sketch form from team members or structural engineer into 2D and 3D CAD drawings

Work with the CNC department to coordinate drawing efforts and reduce or eliminate redundancy

Collaborate with virtually all departments within GPJ, as well as outside vendors and subcontractors such as LED, lighting, audio/visual and structural

Required

A minimum of five years of recent full-time use of AutoCAD in a work environment similar to our business, such as Architectural experience or another exhibit house

Strong skills in 2D and 3D AutoCAD

Ability to comprehend how things go together and to visualize in 3D

Methodical approach to problem solving and the production of drawings

Thorough and meticulous in producing and checking drawings

A good communicator, willing to engage with team members to obtain needed information

Creative problem solving and ability to layout multi-page sets of drawings coherently

Flexibility and adaptability to work long hours and weekends as dictated by client deliverables

Ability to work extended hours during the peak season, which is approximately Labor Day through Easter

Strong levels of perseverance to manage a tough work schedule
