Staff Systems Engineer - (GWS Product Owner)

Responsibilities

Develop new algorithms and improve existing ones for the GMD Weapon System Fire Control product
Assess the effectiveness and performance of algorithms in the context of the GFC software
Interpret, scope and estimate the work required to develop algorithms to meet system level requirements
Plan and schedule the performance of work by the team

Required

Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 12 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree in STEM and 10 years of related experience, or 8 years of experience with a PhD in STEM
Experience leading a technical team of 5 or more employees with proven people leadership skills
Strong technical presentation skills
Experience estimating planning and scheduling Algorithm development and Analysis work for a technical team
Recent and extensive MATLAB and Python Experience/ proficiency
Eager to learn and absorb new concepts and information
Proven experience in developing, prototyping and evaluating complex algorithms
Extensive background in mathematics and physics
Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment
Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start

Preferred

Experience with the MDA GMD program
Advanced degree in Mathematics or Physics
Unix/Linux Operating System Experience
Experience with optimization algorithms
Experience with planning / scheduling algorithms
Experience with sensor modeling, communication modeling, and / or missile modelling
Battle Management or Fire Control experience
Experienced with Linux, scripting, and operations
