Apex International is a high-quality manufacturer of personal care and household products, seeking a Team Lead to join their Eden Prairie, MN location. The Team Lead will manage production areas, ensuring production meets schedules and quality requirements while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

Effectively manages production areas so that production meets production schedule, quality and safety requirements

Adapt to schedule and personnel changes to ensure internal or external customers needs and delivery dates are met

Observe daily production line progress and pre-empt bottle-necks in production

Maintain an active presence on the floor to monitor, motivate and ensure success

Ensure that daily production goals/objectives are met; takes action when they are not met

Conduct a daily production meeting at the beginning of each shift to communicate the daily goals and progress to the crews and provides other required information

Ensures accuracy and timeliness of reconciliation, paperwork, and inventory transactions

Ensure effective change-over of lines, tanks and/or work cell

Ensure line change- over occur in the minimum time, with 100% run-readiness

Report continuous or major problems to Maintenance Dept immediately

Ensure all equipment meets Apex clean and sanitary standards

Complete required Logs and required administration to ensure compliance with government and company standards

Understand and maintain a culture of "lean action" within the department so that we live lean better than any organization

Apply and utilize "lean tools" to permanently implement improvements

Institutionalize 5-S in all aspects of the department. (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain)

Verify MDI boards are being accurately completed and appropriate actions are being taken when results are abnormal to standards

Utilizes daily standard work for self and direct reports to reinforce a culture of discipline and consistent practices

Manage the safety, cleanliness, maintenance and upkeep of the shop floor and workstations

Ensure that equipment cleaning, and sanitation processes are followed and documented

Ensures a clean and organized work environment that adheres to the Zones housekeeping schedule

Ensure OSHA safety requirements are being met and that company safety processes are followed

Required

More than 2 to 5 years in team leadership roles in a manufacturing environment or four-year degree

Ability to learn and apply cleaning and sanitizing processes

The ability to learn and understand reporting software such as Alliance or other MRP software

Requires specific knowledge in a manufacturing environment

A high school diploma or GED is required

To be effective this person must have the ability to troubleshoot production equipment operation and perform autonomous maintenance on all filling machines and support equipment

Capable of multi-tasking the operation of Value Stream Area

Uses processes and technology to improve the quality and efficiency of production; follows processes well

Can maintain and grow technical knowledge and expertise

Can be accurate, precise and pay attention to detail

Has a 'working' knowledge of personal computer operation

Is proficient at Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Office 2000 or higher

Can read and write at a high school level

Understands and can do basic math and algebra to create a spreadsheet report or produce a query

Can read and follow specifications in English
