Responsibilities
Perform a variety of technical procedures using ionizing radiation that requires independent judgment, ingenuity, initiative, and requires 6 months to one year of training to produce diagnostic computed tomography (CT) images
Work under the direction of a Radiologist to perform CT procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision for technical detail
Assume responsibility for designated areas of procedures and taking corrective action for minor equipment and/or computer malfunctions
Room set up, patient positioning, patient screening, image acquisition and quality control are the direct responsibilities of the Technologist
Acquire and maintain specialized technical skills and medical knowledge to render quality patient care
Ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and medical staff in the CT area while in his or her care
Qualification
Required
Graduate of a Certificate, Military, or Higher Learning Radiography program
Valid Radiographer licensure in an applicable state
ARRT Certification in Radiology with eligibility for CT Certification
Must obtain CT certification within 30 months
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) with in three months of hire
Preferred
Additionally, 6-12 months of CT training
Two years' experience as a Radiologic Technologist or CT Technologist
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire
