Responsibilities

Develop and maintain internal signal evaluation tools and libraries to help Oura’s hardware teams (electronics, mechanics, optics) and firmware teams optimize current and next-generation products

Design and conduct studies to evaluate the signal quality of hardware and firmware prototypes and draw meaningful and actionable conclusions

Support the incorporation of new sensing modalities into next-generation products by conducting thorough signal quality evaluations and providing scientifically-backed guidance to other teams

Contribute to the development and validation of front-end signal control and processing algorithms for Oura features/products

Integrate automated signal quality evaluation tools into cloud data pipelines

Coordinate with cross-functional teams and communicate with stakeholders around the globe

Required

PhD degree with three years of work experience OR MSc degree with five years of work experience in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering or a related field

3+ years of solid programming skills in Python and experience with code collaboration tools (git, peer review, etc). Experience with C/C++ is a plus

Significant experience with signal processing methods and time-series analysis (FIR/IIR filters, Kalman filtering, adaptive filtering, stochastic processes, etc)

Flexible schedule and good asynchronous communication skills to work with Oura's Finnish teams (two to three times a week)

This role is based in San Diego, with at least three days in office (at our Carmel Mountain location)

Preferred

Experience with biosignal sensing and wearable hardware (including hardware prototypes)
