Responsibilities
Lead High-Value Deal Strategy & Execution: Own the full lifecycle of major content deals across podcasting and satellite radio—from initial outreach or inbound pitch through negotiation, contract execution, and launch planning. Oversee the full deal process to ensure all agreements comply with SiriusXM’s legal standards and protect intellectual property rights. This includes This includes:
Talent-led podcast and radio shows
IP licensing or co-productions with media companies
Channel deals
Exclusive content partnerships with podcast networks, studios, or labels
Collaborate Closely with Legal on Contract Negotiation: Partner extensively with the Legal team to structure, draft, and negotiate complex agreements. Provide strategic and commercial context to guide legal positioning, ensuring contracts reflect SiriusXM’s business objectives, mitigate exposure, and comply with applicable regulations. Help translate legal language into actionable deal terms for internal stakeholders and partners, ensuring all contractual obligations are understood and executed effectively
Develop & Present Business Cases: Collaborate with the Content Strategy & Analysis Team to build detailed financial models and strategic justifications for proposed partnerships. Collaborate with Finance and Sales to evaluate deal economics, forecast revenue potential, and assess ROI across SiriusXM’s platforms (SiriusXM, Pandora, Stitcher, etc.)
Source and Cultivate Strategic Partnerships: Identify new business opportunities by proactively engaging with the content and creator ecosystem. Build and maintain strong relationships with: Talent agents, managers, and attorneys, Podcast networks, production studios, and media companies, and Labels, sports leagues, and brand/content sponsors
Drive Cross-Platform Content Strategy: Partner with programming and platform stakeholders to craft deals that maximize value across podcasting, satellite radio, and streaming. Ensure each partnership is strategically positioned within SiriusXM’s broader content ecosystem
Oversee Deal Implementation & Launch Coordination: Manage the post-deal process to ensure smooth execution and alignment across internal teams, including: Programming and Production (for creative execution), Marketing and PR (for launch and promotion), Ad Sales (for monetization and sponsorship opportunities), Product and Tech (to support content delivery and platform-specific needs)
Act as Senior Point of Contact for Key Partners: Maintain high-level relationships with partners post-deal. Provide ongoing strategic guidance, address business issues as they arise, and identify opportunities to deepen partnerships over time
Internal Leadership & Executive Communication: Regularly update SiriusXM leadership on active deal negotiations, new opportunities, and strategic market developments
Track Industry Trends & Competitive Landscape: Stay current on developments in the podcasting, radio, and broader media industries. Use insights to inform partnership strategy and help SiriusXM maintain its leadership position in the audio space
Manage & Mentor Business Development Team: Lead a team of business development professionals, setting strategic priorities, coaching team members, and driving accountability. Ensure the team is aligned on partnership goals, execution standards, and relationship management best practices to maximize deal flow and long-term growth
Qualification
Required
15+ years in a similar role at a media company, content acquisition, operations or partnership role at other media companies, platforms or talent agencies
8+ years of experience managing a team
Deep understanding of digital media economics and business models
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Experience with the podcast industry/marketplace and enthusiasm for its future
Experience with entertainment & IP contracts
Experience managing other business development professionals
Solid quantitative and financial modeling skills
Ability to construct analytical models for guidance in acquisitions
Communicate persuasively and effectively with keen attention to detail and nuance
Some knowledge of the current podcasting marketplace
Fluency with Excel or other quantitative modeling tools
Must have legal right to work in the U.S
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred
MBA or JD is preferred
