Outpatient Orthopedic Therapy Services Summer Clinical Intern

Parkview Health is seeking a Summer Clinical Intern for their outpatient orthopedic therapy services. The primary objective of this full-time internship is to enhance patient care quality by engaging in process improvement initiatives and developing educational materials, while also providing administrative support to the therapy teams.

Responsibilities

Support outpatient physical and hand therapy teams
Engage in process improvement initiatives
Develop educational materials for patients and clinicians
Assist with administrative responsibilities to increase availability for direct patient care
Create educational resources in collaboration with therapists
Contribute to operational efficiency through process improvement initiatives
Improve room turnover
Assist patients entering or exiting the department
Conduct chart audits for compliance
Offer general administrative support

Required

Must meet one of the following requirements: current CNA, EMT, or Paramedic certification or must take Parkview Patient Care Foundations course at time of hire
2 years' experience in a healthcare related field; training time will be determined based on experience
Currently enrolled in nursing school having completed first clinical rotations if hired prior to 12/3/18
Two (2) years military medical experience will be accepted
Must have current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or obtain within 60 days of hire
Must have good verbal and written communication skills
Must have a working knowledge of computer skills and applications
Demonstrates ability to critically think
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds

Preferred

CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification preferred or must have the equivalent of health care experience and education
Two (2) years previous experience in a nursing support role OR a nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited program (ASN or BSN) having completed their first clinical rotation on an extended care or inpatient nursing unit (nursing school transcripts required)
Acceptable accrediting agencies are Commission on Collegiate Education in Nursing (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
If assigned to the Parkview Randallia Family Birthing Center must be bonded as a notary public within 6 months of hire
Previous experience is preferred in direct patient care through work and/or school program
