Pressure Vessel Engineer (Falcon)
SpaceX was founded with the vision of exploring the stars, and they are seeking a Pressure Vessel Engineer to join their Falcon team. This role involves owning hardware throughout the product life cycle and requires strong analytical and technical skills to tackle critical design challenges in the development of reusable launch vehicles.

Responsibilities
Ownership of pressure vessels (Type III COPVs or Type 1 Pressure Vessel) for Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy launch vehicles
Use hand calculations, finite element analyses (FEA), and computer-aided designs (CAD) to ensure all hardware meets or exceeds internal and customer requirements
Lead design reviews and hardware qualifications
Serve as technical interface with suppliers and customers
Own the hardware delivery timeline and success through inception, design, assembly, launch and re-use
Design and development of standard and novel pressure vessels
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
1+ years of experience with CAD or FEA software packages (can be in a professional, academic, entrepreneurial, or hobby setting)
1+ years of hands-on hardware experience performing fabrication, assembly and/or testing (can be in a professional, academic, entrepreneurial, or hobby setting)
Able to work longer hours and weekends to support critical needs
Willingness to travel in support of hardware test and launch
Preferred
2+ years experience designing, analyzing, building, testing and/or certifying pressure vessels for aerospace, automotive or industrial base applications
Master's degree in an engineering discipline
Experience with NX/Teamcenter designing parts and assemblies
Experience with at least one commercial FEA or multiphysics simulation package (NASTRAN, ABAQUS, ANSYS, CFD codes, etc.)
Demonstrated ability to own hardware or systems within an integrated engineering team outside a classroom setting (FSAE, Engineers without Borders, Design-Build-Fly, NASA student launch, personal entrepreneurial ventures, etc.)
Analytical/scientific programming experience (Python, Matlab, Excel, etc.)
Familiarity with fluid systems and foundational fluid analysis (schematic creation, fluid system design from 1st principles of flow and heat transfer, fluid system operations development)
