Responsibilities
Administer medications via approved routes (oral, topical, instillation) according to facility protocols and state scope
Apply the “Six Rights” of medication administration: right patient, right drug, right dose, right time, right route, right documentation
Monitor residents for side effects or reactions and report concerns to supervisor
Document medication administration and resident responses per facility and regulatory guidelines
Assist with vital signs and basic assessments when permitted by facility policy
Provide personal care support (bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility, toileting) as needed
Communicate changes in resident condition promptly to nursing leadership
Follow all infection control, safety, and facility protocols
Participate in trainings, audits, and quality assurance initiatives
Maintain confidentiality, respect, and professionalism with residents, families, and staff
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent
Active listing on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry (completion of state-approved training + competency evaluation required)
Must also be listed as a Nurse Aide I (NA I) per NC regulations for skilled nursing facilities
Ability to lift 50 lbs, assist with mobility, and stand/walk for extended periods
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication administration
Effective communication skills in English (read, write, speak)
Preferred
Previous experience in medication administration or Med Tech role
