Rehabilitation and Wellness Summer Clinical Intern

Parkview Health is a community hospital offering a summer clinical internship in rehabilitation and wellness. The primary function of this internship is to support daily operations in the therapy and rehabilitation departments, assist with patient-related activities, and engage in process improvement projects under supervision.

Responsibilities

Perform designated tasks that support the daily operations of the therapy and rehabilitation departments
Assist with various indirect patient-related activities
Support process improvement projects
Assist with purchasing department supplies
Prepare medical records for permanent storage following patient discharge
Route medical documents as needed
Transport materials
Create patient education materials
Perform other miscellaneous administrative tasks
Clean and sterilize equipment
Maintain a clean and safe environment
Develop patient education materials using various platforms
Participate in process improvement projects that support Joint Commission and Infection Prevention requirements
Handle administrative duties designed to increase clinician availability for direct patient care

Required

current CNA EMT or Paramedic certification, or must take Parkviews Patient Care Foundations course at time of hire
2 years experience in a healthcare-related field training time will be determined based on experience
currently enrolled in nursing school having completed first clinical rotations if hired prior to 12/3/18
two (2) years military medical experience will be accepted
current CPR at or above the Healthcare Provider level from the American Heart Association or obtain within 60 days of hire
Must have good verbal and written communication skills
Must have a working knowledge of computer skills and applications
Demonstrates ability to critically think
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and assist with 100 pounds

Preferred

CNA/EMT/Paramedic certification preferred or must have the equivalent of health care experience and education
two (2) years previous experience in a nursing support role OR a nursing student currently enrolled in an accredited program (ASN or BSN) having completed their first clinical rotation on an extended care or inpatient nursing unit (nursing school transcripts required)
Acceptable accrediting agencies are Commission on Collegiate Education in Nursing (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
If assigned to the Parkview Randallia Family Birthing Center must be bonded as a notary public within 6 months of hire
Previous experience is preferred in direct patient care through work and/or school program
