CT Technologist

Responsibilities
Performs diagnostic computed tomography (CT) scan images
Produces quality computed tomography exam images and exercise professional judgment in the performance of procedures
Provides for patient care and initiates life support measure as necessary
Interacts effectively with patients, physicians, family members, department staff, and healthcare workers
Possesses the skills and knowledge to operate CT equipment to produce quality CT scans as well as the ability to perform related procedures and protocols
Has the ability to learn and utilize new technology as well as orient new employees
Possesses the ability to professionally obtain information from patients or their responsible parties to further improve their personalized treatment and care
On a continuum, the CT Technologist works to develop an understanding of the patient's physical and emotional status
Works well with all age groups
Sanford Rural Network Facilities sites may expand job responsibilities based on the needs of the facility, to include, but not limited to: on-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays
Perform diagnostic radiology procedures
Perform basic diagnostic radiology tasks and aware of general radiology protocols
May perform mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures
Qualification
Required
Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school or Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT) accredited program is required
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification is required at the time of hire
If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required
Basic Life Support (BLS) and I.V. certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required
Preferred
Computerized Tomography (CT) Training Or Experience Preferred
Per Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence (DICOE) and American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation requirements, CT certification obtained within two years is preferred
If working in Aberdeen, South Dakota (SD), CT certification is required within 24 months of hire
In the state of Iowa, all technologists must have a permit to practice through the Iowa Department of Public Health in order to practice in the state of Iowa
