Intern – Pavement Management Engineer (Summer)
The State of South Dakota is offering a summer internship for students in the field of pavement management engineering. The intern will conduct pavement distress surveys and assist with data analysis under the guidance of the Pavement Management Engineer.

Responsibilities
Participate in conducting pavement distress survey quality control / quality assurance on various types of highway pavements
Train on how to identify and quantify pavement distresses on various types of highway pavements
Assist the Pavement Management Engineer with some data analysis outputs from the Pavement Management System and other programs in the planning squad

Required
APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply
By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program
Preferred
Preference will be given to students majoring in civil engineering
Preference will be given to students with GIS mapping experience
Preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior
Preference may be given to South Dakota residents
Preference may be given to students of South Dakota institutions
