Start in 2026 SummerPublic Counsel is a nonprofit public interest law firm dedicated to advancing civil rights and racial and economic justice. They are seeking a Summer Intern for their Consumer Rights & Economic Justice Project, where interns will gain practical experience in legal advocacy by managing their own caseload and participating in various litigation and policy tasks under the supervision of experienced attorneys.

Interviewing clients and witnesses
Analyzing new potential cases
Researching pertinent aspects of law
Drafting memoranda
Drafting demand letters
Engaging in various other associated litigation and policy tasks
Participate in weekly case review meetings
Participate in policy coalition calls
Observe court proceedings
Attend depositions and mediations
Qualification
Required
Working under the supervision and mentorship of our team of experienced attorneys
Carry their own caseload
Interviewing clients and witnesses
Analyzing new potential cases
Researching pertinent aspects of law
Drafting memoranda
Drafting demand letters
Engaging in various other associated litigation and policy tasks
Participate in weekly case review meetings
Participate in policy coalition calls
Observe court proceedings
Attend depositions and mediations where possible
Submit two PDFs, one containing your cover letter and the other containing your resume (and a transcript, if available)
Discuss why you are interested in interning with Public Counsel generally and with CREJ specifically in your cover letter
Address topics related to increasing equity and inclusion in your cover letter
Consider addressing lived experiences and experiences working with clients across a range of settings in your cover letter
