Intern - Transportation Planning (Summer)
The State of South Dakota is seeking a Transportation Planning Intern for the summer session. This role involves assisting Project Development Planning staff with the implementation of a multimodal community transportation plan, including both office work and on-site community engagement.

Responsibilities
Assist Project Development Planning staff in the implementation of a transportation planning program
Help develop a multimodal community transportation plan, including bike, pedestrian, transit, and traditional modes
Conduct policy research, GIS, planning, and report generation in the office
Perform site analysis, data gathering, and public and stakeholder meetings on-site with the community
Travel overnight as required

APPLICANT MUST BE A CURRENT PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME STUDENT (MINIMUM OF 6 CREDIT HOURS) IN UPCOMING SEMESTER OR IN THE IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING SEMESTER
Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply
By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program
Preferred
Preference will be given to students majoring in community or transportation planning, landscape architecture, or civil engineering
The preferred intern will have completed coursework in community or transportation planning and multimodal transportation design studies
Preference will be given to students with GIS mapping capabilities
Preference may be given to applicants with a standing of junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions
