Survey Analyst, Public Opinion Research
The ACLU is seeking a Survey Analyst for their Analytics Division, located in either New York or Washington, DC. The role focuses on conducting qualitative and quantitative public opinion research to support the ACLU’s fundraising, advocacy, communications, and supporter engagement efforts.

Responsibilities
Perform quantitative and statistical analysis of public opinion survey data
Prepare graphs, tables, and other visual presentations of data for written reports and presentations for internal use and public release
Design questionnaires, program survey instruments, and write summary reports
Design & build dashboards using survey data to guide decision making to improve engagement with the ACLU and build support for the ACLU’s mission
Compile, analyze and interpret public and syndicated polling data
Work with stakeholders in Communications, Digital, Political Advocacy, and other departments to track and report public attitudes related to ACLU and its activities
Stay up-to-date about industry best practices through participation in industry professional groups, attending conferences, webinars, & other activities
Qualification
Required
Familiarity with scoping opinion research projects and managing day-to-day project needs
Very strong quantitative, data analysis, and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated experience visualizing survey data using BI software, like Tableau, InfoGram, or similar
Intermediate understanding of qualitative, quantitative, and mixed research methods and techniques
Understanding of opinion research and evidence-based messaging best practices for ACLU issue areas, like free speech, immigrant rights, voting rights, and functional areas, like fundraising, advocacy research, or brand research
Strong written and verbal communication; ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative results, visualize data, and summarize findings for a wide range of nontechnical stakeholders across various functions and levels of an organization
Preferred
Experience using SPSS, Stata, R or other statistical package
Experience using statistical techniques using survey data, like MrP, MaxDiff or conjoint analysis
Experience designing or moderating qualitative research efforts, like focus groups, QualBoards, or similar
Experience running opinion research projects end-to-end, including project and stakeholder management
