Assistant Professor of Accounting
Colorado Mesa University is seeking candidates for the rank of Assistant Professor of Accounting in the Davis School of Business. The role involves teaching undergraduate and graduate accounting courses, conducting research, and providing student advising and service to the university community.
Education Management
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses primarily in accounting
Conduct scholarship within your discipline
Advise students and provide service at the school and university level
Qualification
Required
A terminal degree (PhD or DBA) in Accounting, or related discipline with significant coursework (at least 18 graduate credit hours) in Accounting; ABD with a dissertation defense date and completion of all degree requirements on or before August 2026 will be considered
Demonstrated potential for exceptional teaching performance
Commitment to best practices in instruction, student advising/mentoring, and curriculum development
Demonstrated dedication to advancing a research agenda and producing scholarly work relevant to accounting
Demonstrated potential for active involvement in institutional, community, and/or professional activities
Strong communication and organizational skills
Preferred
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or other accounting related designations
Experience teaching college-level accounting courses beyond student teaching
Five-plus years of accounting experience is strongly preferred given our hands-on, application-oriented approach in the classroom
