Philanthropy & Development Intern (Spruce Root) - Summer 2026
Sealaska is a non-profit organization focused on fostering a regenerative economy in Southeast Alaska. They are seeking a Philanthropy & Development Intern to assist with fundraising and grantmaking efforts, while gaining experience in Indigenous-led philanthropy and development strategies.

Responsibilities
Build skills in philanthropy project management, grantmaking, fundraising, and development
Learn about Indigenous-led philanthropy and development strategies
Support storytelling efforts around Spruce Root’s giving mission and fundraising
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Able to both collaborate with a team and work independently
Ability to meet deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be a Sealaska shareholder, descendant of a shareholder, or spouse of a shareholder
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Ability to travel as needed
Must be 18 years old at time of hire
Must be currently enrolled in post-secondary school/program or a recent graduate (1-2 years)
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred
Studying business, Indigenous studies, non-profit administration, or other social science
Strong critical thinking and research skills
At least a 2.5 GPA
Self-starter with ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment
