NEOGOV is partnering with Victoria College to offer a part-time Emergency Medical Technician Student Intern position as part of the Texas Internship Initiative Grant. This 12-week internship provides hands-on field experience with the City of Victoria Fire Department, allowing students to apply classroom knowledge to real-world EMS scenarios and gain valuable exposure to emergency response.

Responsibilities

Assist EMTs and paramedics during emergency medical calls, including patient assessment and care
Observe and support life-saving procedures under the guidance of certified EMS personnel
Participate in patient transportation and transfer of care to hospital staff
Maintain inventory and restock supplies on ambulances
Learn to properly clean and disinfect EMS equipment and vehicles
Practice accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters
Follow safety protocols and patient privacy guidelines (HIPAA)
Attend briefings, training sessions, and debriefs as directed by supervisor
Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required

Currently enrolled in the final semester of the Emergency Medical Services Program at Victoria College (EMT Level 1 Certificate or AAS)
Current CPR certification and completion of clinical prerequisites
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to follow instructions and maintain composure in emergencies
Commitment to patient care, safety, and confidentiality
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Availability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings or evenings
