Responsibilities

Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the architectural work to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications
Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions
Analyses and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements
Prepares or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders
Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals
Prepare letters to vendors and clients
Plans, coordinates, or prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations
Coordinates architectural efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups
Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations
When delegated, provides guidance to other architectural personnel for specific tasks or project-subgroups. Evaluates, selects, and applies standard Architectural methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgement in making adaptations and modifications
Designs facility layouts, and architectural details
Performs building code analyses and compliance, 3D modeling and renderings
Coordinates work and collaborate with other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction
Assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change orders
Coordinates architectural efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups
Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, renderings, reports, or proposals
Provides technical assistance to other Architectural personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards
Assist in constructability reviews
Prepares project designs and plans using 3D modeling software
Support construction by dispositioning field change requests and nonconformance reports
Act as a mentor or coach for subordinate architects and designers
Lead and/or participate in technical discussions with clients, suppliers, construction

Required

Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Must have completed a minimum of 4 years of active-duty military service in the United States Armed Forces, with an honorable discharge
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education
Registered Architect or ability to be obtained within 12 months
Prior experience in facility design/layout and details, building code analyses, Revit modeling and renderings
Experience with CADD applications, such as Revit
Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions and construction methods
Understands work processes of other disciplines and departments on projects
Ability to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verbally
Ability to resolve design issues with subordinates, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the client

Preferred

Master's degree in Architecture
Registered Architect
Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense
Experience with procurement automation tools
Thorough knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or Specslntact
Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide
