Network Engineer/Architect

Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage enterprise-level LAN/WAN, cloud, and hybrid network environments
Support and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and related network hardware/software
Troubleshoot network outages, performance issues, and configuration problems across physical and virtual networks
Monitor network health and usage, analyze network traffic, and optimize performance and availability
Lead network architecture planning and modernization efforts aligned with agency goals and security requirements
Ensure adherence to federal cybersecurity standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP) and contribute to ATO documentation
Collaborate with system administrators, DevSecOps teams, and security engineers to support infrastructure-as-code and zero-trust architectures
Provide Tier III escalation support and serve as a subject matter expert for network-related initiatives
Maintain detailed network documentation including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Qualification
Required
8+ years of experience in enterprise network implementation and maintenance
5+ years supporting government IT networks, preferably in civilian or DoD environments
Expertise in TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, QoS, and wireless networks
Experience designing and implementing secure network architectures and segmentation strategies
Strong hands-on experience with networking hardware (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto) and tools
Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS VPCs, Azure VNets, Direct Connect, etc.) and hybrid network designs
Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to lead incident response for network issues
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including producing technical documentation
Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering, or related field
U.S. Citizenship required (NO EXCEPTIONS). Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
Preferred
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP), or equivalent
Experience working in FedRAMP, FISMA, or DHS CDM environments
Knowledge of SD-WAN and Software Defined Networking (SDN) technologies
Familiarity with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) for network provisioning
Hands-on experience supporting agency-wide network modernization or cloud migration initiatives
Experience within the DHS and TSA environments
