Staff Software Engineer - Operational Tools
Zoox is developing a fully autonomous vehicle fleet and is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to build the tools that power their autonomous ride-sharing service. The role involves designing and implementing scalable web applications, providing architectural leadership, and collaborating with various teams to support the fleet effectively.

Responsibilities
Design and implement highly scalable and reliable web applications to support Zoox's autonomous robotaxi service
Provide architectural leadership across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and AI investments — ensuring reliability, scalability, and technical excellence
Collaborate with software engineering teams, PMs, designers and remote operators to build new features
Mentor and guide junior engineers, performing code reviews and promoting best practices
Qualification
Required
Solid foundations in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML and CSS
Solid understanding of web technologies
Experience with a Front End UI Framework (e.g. Vue, React, Svelte)
Ability to design and architect large scale web applications
Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate consistently
10+ YOE and Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in an engineering, mathematics, or related field
Preferred
Experience with Python or C++
Experience with 3D graphics, especially in a web context
Familiarity with robotics and 3D spatial reasoning
