Bergen New Bridge Medical Center is a leading healthcare provider dedicated to high-quality, compassionate care. They are seeking a Maintenance Repairer to perform repairs, preventive maintenance, and general upkeep of equipment while ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

Reads and uses blueprints, schematics, specifications, mechanical, electrical and plumbing drawings to effect repairs; works from oral and written orders
Fabricates and installs metallic and non-metallic parts (including complex parts), using machines such as engine lathes, utility grinders, power cut-off saws, power hammers, arbor and hydraulic presses and their associated attachments, accessories and tools
Inspects equipment on a regular basis as part of preventive maintenance program and conducts required tests as scheduled to anticipate malfunctions that may lead to breakdown mechanical equipment/systems; lubricates, adjusts and cleans equipment as directed by the preventive maintenance work order and/or supervisor
Provides patients with house call coverage. Responds to emergency requests to handle minor stoppages, bed repairs, and electrical problems
Determines cause of breakdowns; removes, disassembles, cleans and lubricates all assemblies as appropriate. Air blows dust and dirt particles from part
Removes and replaces worn or broken parts and reassembles and adjusts all mechanisms
Brazes unlike metals; cuts or burns metal with oxyacetylene torch as needed
Performs surface buildup, metal bonding, overlay arc cutting and hard surfacing
Aligns major body components and frames and performs roughing operations
Repairs or salvages defective components
Performs snow/ice removal as requested
Performs general repair to building equipment on assigned zone/floor, as required
Performs minor repairs/services in different trades as needed
Completes daily time report at end of shift
Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Assesses gaps in policies and procedures and create necessary policies and procedures to fulfill these gaps
Understands and adheres to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct
Familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements
Maintains and repairs equipment as required by manufacturers' manuals; Prepares information for supervisor to order replacement parts and supplies, as necessary
Obtains replacement parts and turns in unserviceable parts, adhering to departmental policies and procedures
Performs operational tests to determine effectiveness and repairs
Completes issued work order and obtains required signature for work completed or in progress
Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization

Required

Ability to follow verbal instructions
Ability to select and use tools appropriate to repairs
Reads and use blueprints, schematics, specifications and mechanical drawings
Good oral and written communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position
Three years of journeyman experience in a similar position
Must demonstrate thorough knowledge of all required operational theory and the ability to make mechanical repairs as required in this trade
High school graduation or equivalent required
