Responsibilities

Select proper tools and equipment including drop cloths, rags, ladders, scaffolds, brushes, rollers, spray guns, tape, masonry, cleaning materials and paint
Select premixed paints or prepares paint to match specific colors by blending and mixing required proportions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances
Transports material and equipment to the job site or arranges for transport of heavy or bulky items
Prepares the site by covering furniture, equipment and floors with drop cloths and masking doors, windows, and other trim where required
Prepares surfaces including cleaning, minor repair, and patching of metals, wood, masonry, and polishing of finished surfaces and glazing as necessary
Makes minor repairs to spray and roller equipment, simulates wood grain, marble, brick, or tile effects
Recommend substitute materials or colors to improve or expedite work
Requisitions, receives material and equipment, and maintains simple records and time reports
Operates sandblasting equipment and other job-related tools
Cuts stencil and stencil surfaces with lettering and decorations
Paints signs on such surfaces as cloths, bulletin boards, walls, doors, equipment, etc
Installs wall papering and other synthetic material
Refinishes furniture and fixtures
Does freehand highlighting, shading, and countershading, and apply stipple and glaze finishes
Removes, repairs and installs ceramic, masonry tile floors, walls and ceilings
Tapes and spackles drywall in preparation for painting. Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster and other filler
Exhibits general knowledge of brick and stone masonry construction, repair using mortar mixes, plastering, and concrete method
Has the ability to perform masonry and plastering that are structurally correct and have a good appearance
Has the ability to perform repairs to fire and smoke penetration repairs with the correct UL approved material and methods
Performs minor repairs/services in different trades including fire and smoke penetration repairs, as requested
Performs snow/ice removal as requested

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards

Familiar with the Medical Centers Mission, Vision, and Values Statements
Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization

Required

Ability to follow verbal instructions

3 years' experience working with painting contractors including paper hanging and painting background
High school graduate or equivalent required
