Advanced Optical Sensor Test Engineer

Responsibilities

Tests AV and ADAS optical sensors and associated technologies that will integrate into a targeted vehicle application
Individual has a strong focus on LiDAR and Camera technologies which includes SPAD, imager, image signal processing (ISP), lens design, and packaging
Works closely with Research and Development, software developers, validation engineers, HMI engineers, network engineers and suppliers to develop components and systems to support functions and features
Support advance technical work that develops new technologies on camera and camera features
Communicates, coordinates, and consults with engineering departments and customers
Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products
Performs image quality testing and analysis (e.g., HDR, noise, color accuracy)
Performs camera interface testing and analysis (e.g., communication, latency, FPS)
Conducts advanced image sensor evaluations and benchmarking studies
Develops test tools (HW and SW), procedures for evaluating prospective imaging technologies
Integration and setup of new camera lab test equipment (e.g., charts, light sources, measurement devices)
Maintains existing camera lab test equipment and instrumentation (e.g., calibration, software updates)
Collaborates with Advanced Camera Technology Specialists on defining test metrics, pass/fail criteria, and test methodologies for various imaging technologies
Collaborates with Camera DREs and Performance Engineers to identify issues with production intent camera components (HW and FW)
Documents performance analysis reports of various imaging technologies
Documents test procedures, best practice guides, and safe operating procedures for various lab tools and instruments

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science, or Chemistry and 3+ years of engineering experience in a related field
3+ years of development and/or lab test experience of automotive camera systems
Experience with GPU's, FPGA's, ASIC's, FPAs, ISPs, Lenses
Knowledge of machine learning and computer vision, Image de-warping and stitching
Working Knowledge of Matlab/Python/C++ experience
