LABORATORY SERVICES & QUALITY ASSURANCE SUPERVISOR

Responsibilities

Manage and maintain Labs staffed as needed for uninterrupted support of unit operations
Shift contact for Operations Supervision to address lab performance issues
Provide troubleshooting guidance and potential solutions for laboratory problems
Lead and motivate the Technicians by communicating clear functional roles, individual contributions, and accountability expectations
Develop and implement Department Training Programs to meet ISO and Company requirements
Assist in creating an environment that supports collaboration, cross-functional teamwork, and information sharing
Administer and oversee qualification training for technicians
Enforce health, safety, and environmental policies
Oversee operations in LSQA labs that testing is done per procedure, safely, accurately, and in a timely manner
Daily Abnormal Data review for completion and correctness; Ensure any Instrument Abnormal reports are completed and submitted to the related Engineer and Manager correctly and in accordance with appointed timelines
Train team members on cost awareness (e.g., reagent costs per experiment)
Foster a culture of resource mindfulness
Ensure sustainability, compliance, and that resources support both scientific output and financial responsibility
Daily supervise hourly personnel in LSQA
The supervisor must observe and monitor all aspects of the laboratory
Provide support for all LSQA managers

Required

A minimum of 5 years' laboratory experience related to the chemical/petrochemical manufacturing industry is required; with good working knowledge of laboratory instruments and equipment
Interactive communication and interpersonal skills, as well as an approachable, confident and supportive personality, maintaining employees' productivity and morale
Must be able to troubleshoot problems and have a good working knowledge of instrumentation used in each of the laboratories
Must be organized in a manner that allows multiple issues to be handled at the same time
Personal computer and applicable software including the ability to learn new systems that the company introduces
Good business writing ability to convey essential information efficiently and professionally through proper grammar, structure, and tone
High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of five (5) years of direct job-related experience required; with a process chemical operator course preferred
Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire
Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current position, as specified in the Master Training Plan
Continual development as required such as: Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Master Training Plan (MTP), Legal and Ethical Training (LERN), and other internal and external training as planned, developed, and prescribed

Preferred

Applied Associates degree BA/BS degree in related field is a plus
