Responsibilities

Set and drive the engineering strategy for Re:Build’s battery pack programs, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with business objectives
Build, mentor, and develop a cross-disciplinary team of engineers (mechanical, electrical, systems). Foster a collaborative culture that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
Oversee the design and development of lithium-ion battery packs and modules across multiple programs and industries. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification
Collaborate with program management, procurement, manufacturing, thermal/mechanical engineering, electrical/BMS teams, and software groups to deliver integrated battery solutions
Represent Re:Build in technical discussions with customers and business partners. Present high-quality technical results, design reviews, and recommendations to senior team members
Stay ahead of emerging technologies and regulatory requirements. Guide adoption of new tools, processes, and materials that enhance performance, safety, and manufacturability
Ensure all battery designs comply with applicable industry standards, certifications, and safety regulations (UL, ISO, SAE, IEC, etc.)
Anticipate technical risks and develop mitigation strategies. Lead the engineering response to organizational changes such as acquisitions or program pivots
Oversee development of supporting materials (BOMs, assembly procedures, installation guides) and ensure quality engineering documentation

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline (required)
10+ years of experience in engineering with a strong focus on lithium-ion battery pack or related systems
5+ years of technical leadership or management experience, including building and developing engineering teams
Proven track record of leading the design, development, and testing of battery systems for electrified propulsion or stationary storage
Deep knowledge of battery pack architecture, design principles, and system integration (mechanical, electrical, thermal, and BMS)
Proficiency with engineering tools (CAD such as CATIA or SolidWorks, electrical layout/analysis software, or equivalent)
Familiarity with regulatory standards (UL, IEC, ISO, SAE) and certification processes
Strong ability to set vision, align teams, and drive execution
Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) with ability to convey complex technical information to executives, customers, and cross-functional teams
Demonstrated success in managing change, risk, and competing priorities in fast-paced environments
Experience with BMS software and control algorithms, and/or advanced thermal/mechanical battery pack design
Background in mathematical modeling, simulation, or advanced battery testing
Project/program management certification or equivalent experience

Master's or Ph.D
