Freshwater Ecosystem Science (3-year VAP)
Colby College is seeking a three-year visiting assistant professor in freshwater ecosystem science to begin in the fall of 2026. The successful candidate will teach courses in freshwater ecology, engage in undergraduate research, and contribute to the department's commitment to environmental studies and sustainability.

Teaching an intermediate-level course in freshwater aquatic ecology with a field lab
Teaching an introductory environmental studies course
Teaching general ecology
Teaching a senior research capstone course for environmental science majors
Teaching elective courses in the candidate’s area of specialty
Engaging in research with undergraduate students
Advising senior theses
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. in a relevant field
Engaged in ecological or environmental science research
Strong commitment to undergraduate education
Candidates who are ABD with an expected completion date prior to fall 2026 will be considered
Expression of interest in liberal arts undergraduate education in the letter of application
Curriculum vitae
Two-page statement of teaching philosophy that demonstrates a commitment to equitable and inclusive teaching
Two-page statement of research interests

Preferred
Focus on one or more of the following: limnology, stream ecology, wetland ecology, aquatic ecosystem ecology, biogeochemistry, agricultural ecosystems, freshwater pollution, and climate change
