Public Relations Intern

EAA Radio is seeking a Public Relations Intern to provide administrative support and assist with various media-related activities. The intern will be involved in drafting news releases, conducting research, and supporting the communications team during events such as the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh fly-in.

Responsibilities

Writing news releases and media sheets to be submitted to communications staff for approval
Compiling and tracking media clips to identify extent of EAA’s media coverage
Contacting media to set up interviews and coordinating radio and print media coverage
Conducting research using Internet, Public Relations software and library resources
Compiles and updates aviation statistics
Participates and provides support to Communications staff, including as part of the media relations staff during the seven days of the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh fly-in
Assists with daily operations and media support
Provides administrative support to EAA’s communications staff including filing, typing correspondence and performing other administrative and clerical tasks utilizing Word, Excel, Outlook, the Internet and media information
Embraces and supports the EAA mission and performs safe practices in the workplace and aviation environment
All other duties as assigned

Required

Prefer a student majoring in Public Relations, Journalism or Communications or related field of study
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point, as well as basic social media tools (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
Ability to generate and deliver persuasive and clear verbal and written communications. Writing is an important element of this position
Results-oriented team player with the ability to collaborate with team members
Outstanding interpersonal skills; must have credibility, good judgment, honesty and integrity
Demonstrated ability to understand, learn and use changing technologies
Effective skills in time management
Initiative to solve problems with energy and a positive attitude
Demonstrate ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced, changing environment
Ability to thrive under pressure and deliver communications within tight deadlines
