Defense & Space
Responsibilities
Full Lifecycle Piping Design: Lead and execute all phases of process piping and piping system design, from initial concept to final commissioning, ensuring adherence to requirements and industry best practices
Generate creative and feasible design concepts for piping systems based on operational needs and technical requirements
Develop preliminary designs, including process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, equipment layouts, and material selections
Refine preliminary designs, performing detailed calculations, selecting components, and creating detailed drawings and specifications
Finalize designs based on reviews, analysis, and feedback, creating comprehensive documentation for fabrication, installation, and testing
Provide on-site support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities. Ensure accurate as-built drawings and documentation are created
Industry Code Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry codes and standards as applicable (e.g. ASME B31.1, B31.3, B&PV codes)
Risk Management: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments throughout the design process, identifying potential hazards and developing effective mitigation strategies. Present design decisions and analysis in a clear and concise risk assessment format to peers, management, and DoD clients
Collaboration and Teamwork: Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team, including design engineers, drafters, systems and reliability engineers, and plant and facility operations engineers. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
Fabrication and Installation Support: Collaborate with fabrication and installation engineering teams and crafts personnel to ensure designs are practice, constructible, maintainable, and efficiently implemented in the field
Mentorship and Development: Mentor and guide junior and fellow senior engineering personnel, sharing your knowledge and experience, and promoting and challenging them toward professional growth
Innovation and Technology Adoption: Champion the adoption of advanced technologies and design innovations, including visual and animated displays, to enhance understanding and communication of design concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
Digital Transformation: Contribute to the migration from 2D design practices to a digital enterprise environment, including 3D design, BIM (Building Information Modeling), and digital twins
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE): Support the transition of design information into a modeling and simulation framework to assist in operations, maintenance, reliability, and model-based systems engineering (MBSE) initiatives
Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction
It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy
Perform other related duties as required
