The role involves supervising a staff of technical designers and engineers, managing the development of engineering designs, ensuring compliance with standards, and mentoring technical staff.

Responsibilities
Supervise technical staff in the preparation of utility engineering designs, cost estimates, and customer billing
Manage schedules and assign technical staff projects and daily work
Manage the development of the technical staff through mentoring, instructing of technical engineering principles and governing electrical and safety codes
Instruct and teach the technical staff in areas of company policies, safety, terms and conditions under which Westwood provides service
Instruct and teach the technical staff in the use of computer systems and software, tools and equipment, and company owned motor vehicles
Manage and provide guidance and direction for professional communication with internal and external stakeholders
Coordinate internal/external reviews of designs completed prior to submissions
Evaluate the performance and development of technical staff
Collaborate with the Manager, Distribution Engineering to develop, evaluate, and implement new policies and procedures which reflect best engineering practices
Collaborate with other departments and divisions on company-wide initiatives
Perform the duties of the Distribution Engineering Manager when the manager is unavailable
Maintain great relationships with our existing clients and seek out opportunities with potential future clients
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Civil/Structural, Mechanical or Multi-Disciplinary Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
EIT with the ability to become registered PE
Proficiency with AutoCAD, PoleForeman, PolyWater Pull-Planner, O-Calc, SPIDAcalc, GIS, IKE
Professional disposition and the ability to be open-minded when it comes to planning and execution of projects being worked by staff
Must be able to effectively supervise a team of Engineers & Engineering Technicians while maintaining work product quality, consistency, accuracy, and reliability
Advanced knowledge of overhead & underground Distribution facilities and understanding of its integration into daily activities
Experience with NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and other industry-relevant standards
Proficiency in MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project)
