Civil Structural Engineer (Forensics)
S-E-A, Ltd. is a national forensic engineering firm with over 52 years in the industry, investigating failures for law firms, insurance companies, and manufacturers. The Civil Structural Engineer (Forensics) will conduct structural field investigations, analyze failures, and prepare reports while developing client relations and providing expert testimony in legal proceedings.

Responsibilities
Conduct structural field investigations and analyze failures involving various structural and construction related problems involving residential, commercial and industrial properties
Determine of the origin and cause, and extent of structural failures, water intrusions, roof damage, construction defects and building system failures including envelope, roof, wall and glazing
Analyze failures in buildings and other infrastructure systems by conducting site visits and applying engineering principles and practices in accordance with codes and industry standards
Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
Responsible for retention and development of client relations
Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation
Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required, master's degree highly preferred in Architecture, Civil or Structural Engineering
Minimum of seven (7) years of post-academic civil / structural engineer experience
P. E. (Professional Engineer) registration
Must possess strong writing skills
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Ability to climb ladders and inspect roofs
Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and in confined spaces
Ability to drive to site locations, at times at unpredictable hours
Preferred
S.E. registration is a plus
Public speaking experience a plus
