Responsibilities
Gain hands-on experience in site design while directly contributing to impactful projects
Focus on site design civil engineering, including parking lot design, site grading, drainage and storm sewer design, sanitary sewer design, water main design, roadway design, project phasing, traffic control and other site design components
Prepare CAD drawings, technical reports, construction documents, cost estimates, and specifications
Gain field experience through construction observation and administration, building understanding of how designs translate to construction and how to collaborate effectively with contractors
Qualification
Required
Graduated from an accredited engineering school
new graduate or early career Civil Engineer with 0-3 years of professional experience
Have passed or are scheduled to take fundamentals of engineering exam to obtain official Engineering Intern designation by the State of Iowa
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
AutoCAD Civil 3D experience a plus
MicroStation 3D experience a plus
Ability to communicate effectively, written and orally
Demonstrate an ability to be service oriented to existing and potential clients
Work effectively with other Engineers and Architects on multi-discipline teams
Manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organization, and prioritization with attention to detail
Internships/summer experience in general civil engineering or construction a plus
Preferred
Strong interest in General Civil Engineering
Practical, hands-on experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D software
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are paramount, along with a demonstrated commitment to client service
Previous internships or summer experiences in general civil engineering would be advantageous
