Behavioral Health Clinician

Responsibilities

Conduct thorough behavioral health assessments, including clinical interviews, diagnostic evaluations, and psycho-social assessments
Use holistic frameworks that integrate mental, emotional, physical, and social factors in understanding patient needs
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other integrative therapy approaches
Incorporate mind-body interventions such as mindfulness, stress reduction techniques, and lifestyle modifications in treatment plans
Assist patients in overcoming barriers and adhering to treatment plans developed by medical clinicians
Provide referrals to community resources, inpatient services, or specialty care as needed
Work collaboratively with medical providers, specialists, care coordinators, and other health professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to care
Participate in team-based care meetings to discuss patient progress, treatment strategies, and holistic care planning
Act as a Clinician to other healthcare professionals on the mental and behavioral health aspects of patient care
BHC will work in partnership with BH Psychologists and understand when a situation is beyond their scope of knowledge and/or license and requires psychologist involvement
Be curious to keep more care in primary care; solve problems, answer questions and spend time in service of learning on behalf of your patients
Educate medical clinicians and other clinic team members as well as patients and their families on behavioral health conditions, stress management, healthy lifestyle choices, and wellness strategies
Promote the integration of mental health with physical care, creating resources and guiding patients toward self-management and resilience-building techniques
Engagement with patients’ support networks as needed
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient sessions, treatment plans, and progress notes in the clinic’s electronic health record (EHR) system
Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and clinical standards in the provision of mental health services
Participate in peer review of EHR documentation, ensuring accurate and ethical standards across the Behavioral Health team

Qualification

Required

Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution
Licensed as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Three (3) years of clinical experience in a behavioral health setting
Ability to see patients of all ages, including children and adolescents
Ability to work closely with a diverse staff and patient population
Have a well-developed therapeutic style, grounded in theory and training in empirically proven models, that can be applied to the wide range of issues seen in primary care
Proficiency in evidence-based interventions (CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, etc.)
Skilled in providing patient-centered care and empathy
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively on an interdisciplinary team
Knowledge of holistic and integrative approaches to behavioral health care
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced clinical environment
Proficiency incorporating technology into patient care (e.g., conducting virtual visits and utilizing electronic health records)

Preferred

Experience working in a healthcare clinic or primary care setting
Experience working with patients under the age of 18
Experience working on an interdisciplinary team
