Responsibilities
Leads a Value Analysis Team (VAT), project teams and general project management activity for specified portfolio (i.e. medical, surgical, non-medical)
Develops strategies and processes for reducing supply expense in relation to product, service and process consumption through standardization and utilization, using evidence based data, benchmarked best practices and data driven analysis
Identifies opportunities for product compression and increased product quality for improved patient outcomes and is responsible for presenting and evaluating those opportunities as well as implementing those that are approved
Gathers product or service information to support value analysis committees i.e. samples, data, white papers to help determine best practice for clinical and financial goals
Ensures that all product, service and process trials and evaluations are unbiased and conducted in a professional manner, as well as documenting results of the trials and communicating those results
Performs cost-benefit, cost-effectiveness, cost-minimization and cost-efficiency analysis, verifying accuracy and completeness of all cost analyses that may impact product, service and process related expenditures
Maintains record of documented cost savings and implemented process improvement initiatives achieved through value analysis process specific to their assigned portfolio
Collaborates with clinical and non-clinical leadership to communicate product changes, product recalls, product shortages and educational needs. Serves as the liaison between outside vendors and clinical and non-clinical staff
Consults with clinical and non-clinical leadership to facilitate new technology research and assessment, evaluations, cost impact analytics, and conversions to support utilization and/or standardization opportunities
Evaluates supplier and end user product performance through review of usage reports, business meetings and customer feedback; resolves issues and implements solutions to address negative performance
Conducts and participates in contract negotiations with vendor candidates, includes end users and clinical staff, to ensure appropriateness of criteria is inclusive and beneficial to the organization
Interacts with those directly involved with patient care to ensure appropriate feedback is received before product decisions are made
Qualification
Required
At least 5 years Relevant experience in healthcare nursing and/or value analysis
Must have significant ability to utilize spreadsheets; excel; and other databases
Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
AHVAP (Value Analysis Professional) certification within 3 years and 6 months of employment
RN or similar clinical certification
Preferred
Ability to interact with C Suite and other senior leadership as well as manage relationships with vendors
Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience
Project Management certification
