Responsibilities
Verify system operation & performance in flight, test, and emulated test venues
Develop rational and define design & test requirements derived from high-level system requirements
Identify, document, and address gaps in test coverage and requirements
Support data reviews of ground tests and flight operations: confirm nominal operation, identify and investigate anomalies
Develop or implement tools and processes to support autonomous and scalable identification of anomalies in test/flight data
Write, run, and review hardware-in-the-loop tests against system concept of operations (CONOPs) and requirements
Support writing, reviewing, and maintaining design and test artifacts for the production propulsion system. This includes software interfaces, high-level software requirements, and propulsion system requirements
Support systems engineering efforts within the Propulsion Design team, and with critical stakeholders (e.g. software, avionics, thermal, GNC)
Support on-orbit operations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or equivalent
Direct experience defining and/or maintaining systems engineering artifacts for complex and critical system designs - spanning hardware and software. Examples: hardware or software design requirements, interface control documents, failure modes and effects analysis, fault tree analysis, system databooks
Preferred
Experience applying of systems engineering artifacts (e.g. design requirements, failure modes and effects analysis) in the HW & SW development lifecycle - including development, test, production, and operations
Design, test, integration, and/or operation of satellite propulsion systems
Familiarity with interdependencies between satellite propulsion systems and other high-level vehicle systems (e.g. power, attitude control, thermal)
Familiarity with the basic sub-systems comprising a satellite electric propulsion system, including tradeoffs between simplicity, reliability, and performance
Experience defining and implementing a system's concept of operations (CONOPs)
Proficient applying Python for analysis or simulation (or similar, e.g. MATLAB)
