Meteorologist

Responsibilities
Deliver forecasts that are vital to keeping the community safe and informed
Provide easy-to-understand weather updates
Create compelling, timely, and accurate content to connect with viewers across traditional and digital platforms
Combine data and science with the power of storytelling
Provide high-quality, informative, easy-to-understand weather forecasts
Creatively tell weather stories across platforms including TV, connected television, and digital
Work in a fast-paced, constantly evolving work environment with new stories to tell and perspectives to uncover
Qualification
Required
Experience forecasting and presenting weathercasts - 2+ years, working knowledge of TV weather graphics systems
Bachelor's degree in Meteorology
Knowledge of synoptic meteorology, tropical and radar
Ability to anticipate situations, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities
Demonstrate enthusiasm in dealing with breaking news
Must be open to travel to discover the important stories in your neighborhood and willing to interact with the community
Ability to work different shifts or longer shifts due to 'breaking news' and severe weather emergencies. Willing and able to work weekends and holidays
Preferred
National Weather Association (NWA) and/or the AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) seal
Working knowledge of general office computer software, newsroom software, and basic non-linear editing systems
May be required to lift up to five pounds
