Engineering Technician

Responsibilities

Work with Product Design, HW Engineering Team(s) or associated engineers to deliver assigned work products on time and of with quality
Build, modify, and/or repair custom electronic circuit assemblies. Hand solder small scale electronic components including fine pitch SMD & through hole devices
Build, install, and maintain custom wiring harnesses for test equipment or vehicle applications
Build custom electrical break-out boxes and prototype electronic circuit boards
Build or modify custom mounting hardware, brackets, & fixtures as required
Troubleshoot test equipment electrical and mechanical systems. Coordinate efforts to repair or update equipment or systems as needed
Operate test lab equipment and shop machinery. Conduct monitoring and testing activities as directed
Analyze and verify any issues discovered and review data with associated engineers. Prepare written reports as required
Assure customer confidentiality in all communications and actions
Work independently, and in conjunction with the project team, as required. Represent the HW Engineering Department in cross functional team meetings as required
Complete all administrative assignments and ensure adherence to internal standards, safety, cleanliness, and organization of all work products. Follow development processes as required. Assure Product Assurance Lab policy is followed (i.e. – TS16949, ISO17025) for project team work
Overtime & Off-shift work may be required on an occasional basis

Required

Equivalent electronics experience and/or post High School, or military training may be acceptable
Knowledge of automotive electronic components, products & assemblies
Strong interpersonal skills to work in a team environment, strong verbal communication skills
Must be proficient with hand tools and related items
Must be proficient with hand soldering small scale electronic components
Strong problem solving skills to aid in analysis and physical troubleshooting of electronic products
Must have basic computer skills (i.e. - Excel, Word, e-mail)
Manual dexterity required to operate office, laboratory, shop, and test equipment
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to work on automotive vehicles in a garage environment
Ability to communicate effectively with employees and outside contacts
Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs

Preferred

Associates Degree in Electronics Technology, or equivalent, is desired
Five or more years of related job experience desired, automotive safety systems experience preferred
Experience in an automotive accredited lab is a plus
Ability to create new, unique tools or fixtures to aid in job performance is a plus
Experience with power supplies, multi-meters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc. is preferred
Familiarity with CAD / Schematic / Drawing applications is a plus
