Mintzer Sarowitz Zeris & Willis is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Legal Secretary for their growing Melville, New York practice. The successful candidate will support attorneys through e-filing, preparing cases for trial, and managing deadlines in a busy caseload environment.

Responsibilities

E-filing/e-courtesy in both State and Federal Courts

Preparing cases for trial (compiling exhibits, complying with trial orders, etc.)

General attorney support, electronic filing of pleadings and documents with the courts

Reviewing documents for time sensitive information

Calendaring, maintaining electronic tickler system

Managing deadlines, profiling documents, file maintenance/organization

Other duties may be assigned

Qualification

New York Civil LitigationTrial ExperienceCase Management ProgramsMicrosoft OfficeMulti-taskingCommunication SkillsTeam-orientedOrganization SkillsCritical Thinking Skills

Required

High School Diploma/GED or higher education

Minimum 5 years of third-party insurance defense experience

Minimum 5 years trial experience/NY civil litigation experience

Case management programs such as Prolaw is a must

Microsoft Office, Outlook Calendaring, and ECF Filing (State with Federal a plus)

Experience working with carrier guidelines, carrier reporting/vendor requirements

Must be able to work in a high-volume caseload atmosphere

Must have excellent oral and communication skills

Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment

Excellent organization skills, critical thinking skills and able to multi-task
