Mechanical Design Engineer, Fasteners
Tesla is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in fasteners, who will be responsible for designing and analyzing joints for Tesla products. The role involves project management, collaboration with design groups, and managing the joint verification process to ensure quality and precision in torque values.

Responsibilities
Work with responsible design groups for designing joints, and torque/load calculations
Responsible for creating, designing, validating and analyzing, each joint on the Tesla products and responsible for Rotary Tool, Residual, Repair Torque value creations for each criticality level joint
Lead and assist production in all quality and process related torque/clamp load topics and issues
Project management: implementing correct torque value for both in house and Tier assembled joints
Work with Joining/Fastener Laboratory to prioritize, execute and report each joint test
Manage joint verification process, implementation, and improve Joint Calculator by creating more precise data, new features, improving UI
Ensuring of implementation of correct torque value for both in house and Tier assembled joints
Qualification
Required
Degree in Mechanical, Materials Engineering or equivalent experience
Exceptional understanding of the interactions between the torque, clamp load, friction
Experience in fastener engineering or related field
Experience developing torque values based on design requirements
Experience of 2D and 3D design (Catia V5 Preferred)
Experience on fastener/joint tests, (e.g. destructive and non-destructive tests clamp load, torque, joint slip test)
Experience with GD&T and quality control
