They are seeking a NEON IT Infrastructure Administrator – Data Engineer to oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of data systems to enhance data quality and access across the organization.

Responsibilities

Provides expert data analysis and modeling, and physical/logical design

Performs complex data warehouse design

Leads database development functions such as query optimization and schema design

Leads database administration functions including backups, restores, maintenance, and security configuration

Leads projects by actively engaging in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects

Trains other IT staff members in best practices

Contributes to the development of procedures and standards for database development

Identifies ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality

Prepares data for predictive and prescriptive modeling

Assists with database integration into other applications and infrastructure components

Performs needs assessment and evaluates new technology to improve and maintain core and enterprise infrastructure

Engages external vendors when needed to solve complex problems or bugs

Provides occasional after-hours support

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 8 years of experience as a Data Engineer/Data Analyst/Database Administrator or equivalent combination of education and/or experience

Experience with database environments including PostgreSQL

Experience with Trino query engine

Experience with Apache Hive data warehouse software

Experience with programming languages (Python, Java)

Experience with Git and CI/CD practices

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues with databases and software

Ability to effectively document all technical designs and solutions

Experience with automation

Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred

Experience working in Google Cloud environment including CloudSQL and GKE

Experience working with MySQL, Microsoft SQL, and Oracle databases

Experience working in a scientific environment
