Software Engineer II - Document Services (Python)

Responsibilities
Set up development environment, CI/CD pipelines, and access to AWS and relevant Continuous systems
Familiarize with Continuous’ product suite, architecture, and security standards (SOC 2)
Review existing codebase, documentation, and testing frameworks
Meet with Engineering, Product, and Support teams to understand workflows, priorities, and interdependencies
Pair-program with teammates to learn coding patterns and standards
Fix small bugs, write unit tests, and contribute to minor features or UI improvements
Use AI coding assistants in daily workflow and provide early feedback on effectiveness
Complete at least 2–3 small features or bug fixes merged into production
Lead development of mid-sized features (both front-end in React and back-end in Python/Node.js)
Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, regression) for owned features
Start contributing to system design discussions and propose solutions to scaling or performance issues
Participate actively in code reviews, suggesting improvements beyond syntax (architecture, maintainability)
Support Customer Support team with technical insights into common issues
Leverage AI coding assistants more strategically, experimenting with context engineering and prompt design to accelerate delivery
Share learnings with the team on effective AI-powered development practices
Deliver at least one major feature end-to-end (from design to deployment)
Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex bugs independently
Contribute one process or codebase improvement (e.g., CI/CD efficiency, documentation clarity, or testing reliability)
Lead development of mid-sized features (both front-end in React and back-end in Python/Node.js)

Qualification
Required
Strong Proficiency in: Python and TypeScript fundamentals with experience in production environments and hands-on React development experience
Exposure to: AWS services, context engineering and prompt design for AI systems, agent frameworks and orchestration tools, building RAG systems, implementing context window optimization strategies, C# and .NET ecosystem, Node.js backend development, Docker/Kubernetes and Model Context Protocol servers
Demonstrated Ability to: Build and maintain full-stack applications
Proficiency with: AI coding assistants to enhance productivity
Customer-focused: You are driven to improve Continuous' DevOps environment and promote an innovative and seamless infrastructure build and release/deploy process that leads to the customer experience being best-in-class
Interpersonal and communication skills: You use your verbal and written communication skills to be clear and transparent to both technical and non-technical peers

Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: You diagnose issues with complex CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and deployment process, identifying root causes quickly and accurately
