Associate Software Engineer
North Star Behavioral Health is one of the nation’s largest providers of hospital and healthcare services, recognized for its performance and growth. They are seeking an Associate Software Engineer to support the implementation, testing, documentation, and support of integration processes within the organization, specifically focusing on Cerner-based applications.

Responsibilities
Communicates with users, vendors, and IS staff to develop/modify system specifications
Supports the implementation of applications and prepares the appropriate documentation
Performs system testing and documentation for all phases of the application development life cycle
Performs Q/A on application functionality
Monitors, researches and resolves implementation-related Customer Support Center Tickets
Adheres to appropriate UHS Project Management standards
Ensures strict adherence to work plans, reporting all serious deviations to management
Trains users in application use as needed
Designs solutions for applications and prepares the appropriate documentation
Assists in recommending application solutions to meet business needs
Constructs and schedules automated processes
Actively contributes to on-going process improvement
Monitors, researches, and resolves Customer Support Center Tickets
Adheres to UHS Service Level and Change Management Policies
Provides on-call support as scheduled
Establishes and maintains regular communications with user community
Identifies potential system problems and proposes ways to avert them
Creates and maintains effective program documentation
Participates in new development, maintenance and enhancement for integration processes
Troubleshoots and resolves customer problems of various complexities such as code defects, application configurations, networking or other issues commonly encountered
Sets up and configures application settings and permissions
Provides regular updates to customer of ongoing troubleshooting and resolution efforts
Updates knowledge base as issues are discovered and resolved
Maintains Service Excellence principles
Prepares and submits status reports to supervisor as required
Keeps management well informed of activities, needs, problems
Adheres to structured programming, analysis, and design techniques
Provides training where applicable
Qualification
Required
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field and an understanding of SQL, object-oriented development, RDBMS methodology, ETL, FTP, development life cycle, source control methodologies, and project management
No working experience is required, up to one year of experience would enhance the skills and abilities necessary to perform this job
Knowledge of current database functionality and development methodologies
Knowledgeable in the use and definition of relational databases
Knowledge of system application implementation, enhancement and support methods and practices
Knowledge of computer systems analysis and programming techniques and procedures, including consulting with users to determine software or system functional specifications; design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing, coding, debugging, or modification of computer systems or programs based on and related to user design specifications
Knowledge of IS standards and quality methods and metrics
Knowledge of project management methods
General familiarity of user business practices, concepts, and terminology sufficient to support the applications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Working knowledge of all aspects of the project development life cycle
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to multi-task while effectively managing time and meeting deadlines
