The role focuses on the design and development of tooling solutions using 3D CAD, while managing multiple projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability and quality.

Responsibilities

Create and develop 3D CAD models, assemblies, and tooling components in SOLIDWORKS, including jigs, fixtures, inspection tooling, forming molds, and related designs

Support multiple design projects simultaneously, adapting to shifting priorities and variable workflow requirements

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and act as a technical resource for upstream process review, defining tooling requirements and ensuring manufacturability

Assist in downstream activities such as quality inspection tooling, tool validation, and production buy-off

Maintain accurate document control, versioning, and engineering data management for all design packages and related documentation

Participate in design reviews, troubleshooting, and process evaluations to support continuous improvement

Apply design principles to optimize tooling for ergonomics, efficiency, and process measurement capabilities

Support senior engineers in mentoring technicians and implementing best practices in CAD and tooling design

Required

2 or more years of experience in tooling, manufacturing engineering, or related technical/design roles required

Bachlors degree or greater in Mechanical Engineering

Proficiency in SOLIDWORKS CAD software, including assemblies and 3D CAD modeling required

Experience designing fixtures, molds, jigs, and tooling components, preferably in hard tooling (CNC, machining, welding) and soft tooling (fiberglass, carbon fiber, resin, 3D printing)
