Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Responsibilities
Lead geotechnical tasks and lead the delivery for a wide variety of projects, with a focus on water and transportation market projects such as dams, levees, treatment plants, bridges, and related infrastructure projects
Mentor less experienced staff with the potential opportunity to be a staff manager
Lead projects in the development and implementation of geotechnical data collection programs, geotechnical analyses, preparation of reports, development of contract documents, and providing support during project construction
Follow projects from concept development through the construction phase with engineers
Interact with existing and prospective clients, provide support to business development efforts, and assist the regional business group and geotechnical leadership in advancing the technical capabilities of the regional office and global geotechnical group
Qualification
Required
B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering
M.S/Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering
15 years of geotechnical consulting experience with a focus on water and transportation market or related infrastructure projects
PE license
Knowledge and experience in exploration methods, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, and laboratory testing for soil and rock
Experience with design, construction, and inspection of water and transportation market projects
Design of typical geotechnical structures, such as shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, embankment and cut slopes, and ground improvement
An understanding of earthquake hazard evaluations, including liquefaction assessments, site-specific ground response analyses, and development of design spectra
Preparation of technical reports
Familiarity with computer programs for geotechnical analyses, such as SETTLE3D, LPILE, SLIDE or SLOPE/W, MATHCAD, FB-Multipier, PLAXIS, and FLAC
Preparation of design drawings and specifications
