The State of Delaware's Attorney General's Office is seeking a dedicated attorney to join the Special Victims Unit in the Criminal Division, Kent County. This role focuses on advocating for vulnerable victims through expert prosecution, thorough investigations, and compassionate support.

Responsibilities

Manage caseloads involving sexual assaults, as well as cases of child death, abuse, and neglect
Attend victim interviews at the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) and conduct pre- and post-arrest intakes with investigators
Collaborate with medical professionals, detectives, and child welfare professionals to investigate cases, evaluate evidence for charging decisions, and prosecute crimes supported by the evidence
Share on-call responsibilities with other Deputy Attorneys General to assist police with after-hours investigations

Required

Membership in the Delaware Bar is required
Ability to manage complex investigations
Interest in, and willingness to learn and understand, medical evidence
Strong judgment in evaluating and resolving criminal cases
Capacity to anticipate and effectively research legal and medical issues in litigation
Ability to establish strong working relationships with detectives, medical personnel, child welfare professionals, other Deputy Attorneys General, support staff, and court personnel
Prepared to independently try serious cases and apply relevant laws and court rules
